Texas Sword Belt Plate

Exponentially rare Texas Sword belt plate. Excavated in Louisa County, May 2007 with Texas buttons, near location at North Anna River, area of winter encampment of Texas, Mississippi and Georgia troops. Reference example in “Confederate Buckles & Belt Plates” by Steve E. Mullinax. Reference similar pattern plate 325, on page 179 from the Smithsonian Collection. Dimensions 50 X 70 mm. Plate has 50% of its original silver plating remaining. This is an exceptionally rare, excavated Confederate plate surviving an equally rare state of original preservation.
