LeMat Grapeshot Revolver

$14,500.00

Invented by Dr. Jean Alexander Francois LeMat….. the LeMat “Grapeshot” Revolver was quite the innovation, incorporating exceptional fire power, a 9-shot cylinder with 6- 3/4 (.42 Caliber) octagonal barrel. Cylinder rotated around 5″ (caliber).63 shotgun barrel, which served as cylinder arbor. With a flick of the hammer (lever) user could utilize .42 caliber or single .63 caliber shotgun barrel. (Shot or Slug). Serial numbers on the cylinder, barrel, frame #179 should suggest early British model before starting renumbering with higher digits. Both barrels are Birmingham proof marked, B, C, P and mark with V, not London or Belgium. Unmarked top flat barrel, this example has typical second model LeMat features, Full octagonal barrel, Left-side loading lever, Round trigger guard with out spur, Knob-style frame assembly latch, Fixed symmetrical butt ring, Central pivot on trigger for one-handed operation, Long pattern main spring. In my opinion, with the evidence of well worn grips,  suggesting apparent noteworthy field service. This fine Second Model London LeMat is properly Birmingham proofed and correctly stamped for Confederate service.
