Featured is an outstanding excavated example CS buckle, manufactured by the firm of Leech and Rigdon, known as the “large belt loop pattern.” Primarily found in western theater sites, this example conforms exactly dimensionally to Plates 034 & 035, pages 27 & 28 “Confederate Buckles & Plates” by Steve E. Mullinax.” Dimensions: 54 X 76 mm / wreath ht. 44mm. Large belt loop style with small thick coin-type tongue disc. Note the casting air vent mark on back of tongue bar and wreath- a common feature.
