Confederate manufactured Cavalry Sabre, closely patterned after the U.S. Model 1840 heavy cavalry sabre. In the reference "Confederate Swords" by William A. Albaugh III, he mentions "The Confederacy produced innumerable sabres of this type resembling each other so closely that only a few can be identified." The manufacturing characteristics identify this example to the firm "Boyle & Gamble" of Richmond, Virginia. CS Acquisitions Museum
